About This Blog

Welcome to Cerebral Faith. I am Evan Minton, and this is my blog on Christian Apologetics and theology. What is Christian Apologetics? Christian Apologetics is the practice of defending the Christian faith. There are two kinds of apologetics: offensive apologetics and defensive apologetics. The former seeks to provide a positive case for Christianity, reasons to believe that it's true. The latter responds to arguments against Christianity from non-Christians in an attempt to show that Christianity is false. Both types of apologetics are written about on this blog. Since this blog's launch on August 22nd, 2012 My goal has been to convince unbelievers and equip believers. Whichever category you fall into, I hope and pray that this website does one of those things for you.

Where Did You Come Up With Your Name?

Sometimes people ask me where the name Cerebral Faith came from? I was trying to come up with a name that would convey the reasonableness of Christianity. I couldn't go with "Reasonable Faith" because William Lane Craig already laid claim to that one. Rational Faith is just a synonym for Reasonable Faith, so while there wouldn't be any infringement going on, I was afraid people might confuse the two ministries. "Smart Faith" was already taken by MaryJo Sharp, and "Faithful Thinkers" was already taken by Luke Nix. Then I thought about the word "Cerebral". According to the dictionary, one of the uses of this word is when someone treats a subject in an intellectual manner. As in "He took a very cerebral approach to his faith". So that's how and why I came up with this site's name. I take a cerebral approach to Christianity rather than a feeling-based approach. The slogan came out of a saying I've often heard in various places; "God gave you a brain! Use it!" It goes well with the goal of this blog and the name.

The Blog Posts Are Archived Categorically For Your Convenience

This website has several pages that categorize the blog posts I've written so you can find what you're looking for easily. If you're new to this site and are looking to research arguments for God's existence, you should go to the list of tabs underneath the logo and click on the tab titled "Arguments For God's Existence". There, you'll see a list of blog post titles where I've given not only basic defenses of the arguments (e.g The Kalam Cosmological Argument, The Fine-Tuning Argument), but you'll find my various responses to objections to those arguments as well. "The Doctrine Of Salvation (Soteriology)" contains a list of all the blog posts I've written demonstrating the fallacy of Calvinism and defending Arminian doctrines such as unlimited atonement and prevenient grace. "Answers For Atheists" contains my responses to atheistic arguments such as the problem of evil, divine hiddenness, memes, the Canaanite objection, and several others. "Christian Witnessing" contains blog posts telling my Christian readers how they can become better apologists, defending the legitimacy of doing Christian Apologetics, and blog posts about apologetic methodology. "The Historical Jesus" contains blog posts defending the historicity of Jesus' existence, death, and resurrection from the dead. I highly suggest you visit this page as the resurrection is the centerpiece of the Christian faith! "Hermeneutics 101" is the page you want to visit if you'd like to take a short course on biblical hermeneutics (i.e the art and science of biblical interpretation). "Logical Fallacy Series" contains a long series of blog posts I've written talking about various logical fallacies (mistakes in thinking) people make as well as instances in which these come up in apologetic discussions. "Difficult Bible Questions" is the page I take on questions about difficult issues that arise in peoples' minds as they go through The Bible.

Don't Be Afraid To Ask Questions

If you have any questions or objections that I haven't yet addressed on this website, don't be afraid to send me an e-mail at CerebralFaith@Gmail.com. I'll write a blog post responding to your question so that not only you can have a (hopefully) satisfying response, but the other readers of this website will be as well. Don't worry, I won't reveal your identity or anything. My Q&A Article set up is the same as William Lane Craig's.
